What does Roto Spiral specialise in?
Roto Spiral Ltd engineers and manufactures screw conveyors, augers, helicoid flighting, and related components for bulk material handling. We design for both horizontal and inclined conveying across a range of industries including agriculture, wastewater, feed milling, pharmaceuticals, cement, lime and biomass.
What is helicoid flighting and how is it used?
Helicoid flighting is a continuous screw profile formed from a flat steel bar, cold‑rolled into shape without welding. It provides a smooth, durable conveying edge ideal for transporting granular or powdered materials. We manufacture helicoid flighting from mild steel, stainless steel (304/316), or wear-resistant Hardox, with diameters from 30 mm to 6 m and thicknesses from 2 mm to 25 mm.
Do you offer sectional flights?
Yes. For applications requiring high torque or non-standard configurations, we also produce sectional flights, cut and formed individually to the required pitch and outer/inner diameter. These are suitable for heavy-duty and high-abrasion environments.
What types of screw conveyors do you manufacture?
We manufacture:
- Tubular Screw Conveyors & Augers – Enclosed systems suitable for powders and granular products.
- Trough Screw Conveyors & Augers – U-shaped open systems ideal for easy inspection and cleaning.
- Ribbon Screw Conveyors & Augers – Designed for sticky or viscous materials.
- Inclined and Vertical Screw Conveyors & Augers – For upward conveying where space is restricted.
- Variable Pitch Screws & Augers – For metering, mixing, or avoiding clogging at inlets.
What materials do you use in construction?
Standard options include:
- Mild Steel – Cost-effective for general-purpose conveying.
- Stainless Steel (304 or 316) – Used in food, pharmaceutical and corrosive environments.
- Hardox – For wear-critical applications such as cement, sand or biomass.
- We also offer polyethylene liners, wear strips, and chrome-plated shafts as optional enhancements.
Can Roto Spiral assist with refurbishment or on-site repair?
Yes. We offer a full refurbishment service for worn augers and conveyors. This includes shaft rebuilding and balancing, bearing and hanger replacement, refitting or replacing flights, realignment and polishing, and on-site welding and fabrication as required. We also retrofit worn equipment with improved design modifications to improve efficiency or material flow characteristics.
What is the typical lead time for custom conveyors?
Lead time depends on size and complexity. For standard augers, turnaround is typically 2–3 weeks. Fully customised conveyor systems may require 2-3 weeks, subject to engineering review, material availability and site requirements.
Can you supply replacement parts for existing systems?
Yes. We can manufacture replacement flights, shafts, end bearings, gearboxes, drive units, and other components to match or improve on existing systems — even if originally supplied by another manufacturer.
Are your systems compatible with ATEX environments?
We can design equipment suitable for ATEX-rated environments, particularly in feed milling, biomass and waste sectors. This includes the use of explosion-proof motors, grounding, and sealed bearings. Full documentation is provided where required.
What industries do you serve?
We provide equipment and support to the following sectors:
- Agriculture (feed systems, grain conveyors, root crop handling)
- Feed mills and compounders
- Food processing and pet food
- Wastewater treatment (dewatering, grit removal)
- Biomass (wood chip and pellet fuel conveyors)
- Cement and lime production
- Pharmaceuticals and chemical blending
- Rendering and animal by-product facilities
- AD Plants
- Energy Generation
- Ground Works
Do you offer design consultation or project support?
Yes. Our engineers offer full design support including site visits and layout planning, CAD drawings and 3D modelling, throughput and power calculations, material compatibility reviews, and fabrication drawings with installation guidance.
Can you deliver and install equipment on-site?
Yes. We offer delivery throughout Ireland and the UK, and can arrange full installation by qualified fitters, including equipment testing and commissioning where needed.
What control options are available for your auger systems?
We supply and integrate:
- Manual or automated control panels
- Variable speed drives (VSD)
- Level sensors and weight-based dosing
- PLC integration for automated batching or feedback loops
- Control setups are tailored to match the client’s process and interface requirements.
